Canon Medical Arena Officially Launches with Landmark Event in Sheffield

Canon Medical Arena officially opened its doors on Thursday 5th October 2023, marking a major milestone for Sheffield’s sporting, cultural, and business landscape with a prestigious launch event attended by key figures from across the region.

Hosted by broadcaster Dan Walker, the evening brought together leaders from sport, business, healthcare, and the local community to celebrate the opening of one of the UK’s most exciting new venues.

Guests were treated to a series of insightful panel discussions featuring influential voices including Richard Caborn, Mark Hitchman, and Dr Stephen Feldman. Arena Directors Yuri Matischen, Sarah Backovic, Atiba Lyons, and John Timms also shared their vision for the Arena’s role in driving sport, health, and community engagement in the city.

The event welcomed players and representatives from both the Sheffield Sharks and Sheffield Hatters, alongside a wide range of local businesses, partners, stakeholders, and media, all gathered to celebrate the beginning of a new era for Sheffield.
